A Review - Until The Last - Mike Shackle
I feel like at this point there isn't much I can say that I haven't already said for these books. I always worry when a series has been so good that the final book won't do it justice and the author won't be able to land the plane under pressure. I worried about that here too, but my god not only does Mike Shackle land this plane, he does a barrel roll just for fun and showmanship.
These books are extremely good and they give you what quite a lot of fantasy lacks these days which is a good story. A lot of authors can get bogged down in world building and the like, and that isn't to say that Shackle doesn't develop Jia, Egril or Meigore, but he doesn't get bogged down in it to the point where it is a detriment to the pacing.
This book, like its predecessors is all action, packed with tension and intrigue and delivers some of the most heart breaking moments I've read for a long time with very little sign posting that would make it obvious.
I've mentioned it before but a serious doff of the cap to Shackle for some absolutely brilliant Character work, there isn't a single arc in this series that I didn't like, and there are some that I found surprisingly good (special mentions for Ange and Ralasis)
Honestly, give these books a try. 100% satisfaction guaranteed otherwise Mike Shackle will give you your money back. (He won't, not that he would need to but he definitely won't, don't ask and don't say I sent you)
